Both PFHC games back to back on Sunday and the Portland Firefighters Hockey Club represented well once again on the ice.  The first to hit the ice was the C team and from the after game reports and catching a bit of the game myself I would say they played well other than allowing their 2 goal lead late in the third to slip through their fingers ending in a 4-4 tie against the Tough Mothers.  It was good to see Ed back between the pipes and sweet Jenny in the stands, as well as the rest of the brothers out there on the ice, givin 'er.  Good job boys.   This brings your record to 1 win, 2 losses, and a tie.  I know the tie is kinda like kissin your sister but hey, she may be somewhat attractive.

The B team had the late time slot and with only 6 skaters and Jim in net we were a little nervous to start.  But we recruited Mikey and Weaver who played excellent for us.  Thanks guys.  It was good to see sweet Mrs. Weaver in the stands blowing us kisses and stuff as well.
I could say the game started off slow and close but that would be lieing.  For lack of better terms we slaughtered the Blue Ribbons so bad it was like we were playing against a bunch of pylons.  An all girls school for the blind would have put up a better fight than these guys.  I don't know if it was too much PBR or what it was but there was no contest on the ice that game.  As Mikey so eloquently has stated in the past about horrible goalies, there goalie should be named Red Light and probably got a sunburn on his neck from the goal light behind him turning on every few minutes.  And as Tom O pointed out on the bench, their goalie was playing stand up goaltending but not cutting off the angle which made it quite easy to score.  We scored 5 goals in the first, 3 in the second, and 6 in the third, winning 14 - 1.  At the end of the second we had already gone up 8-1, the same score we had at the end of our last game.  We probab ly should have chilled out at around 10-1 and tried to stop the bleeding but it was actually hard not to score on them.
I'll run through the point getters:

Ryan G: 4 goals, 3 assists
Chad: hat trick and 3 assists
Monte: 1 goal, 3 assists
Demuth: 4 goals 4 assists
Tom O: 2 goals, 4 assists
KFerg: 2 assists
Weaver: 1 assist
Mikey: 1 assist
even Jim the goalie got an assist on the game winner.

Penalties were: Two from Kevin for roughing and One from Mikey for tripping or holding, one of two.

Good job boys.  We played well, passed the puck around nicely, handled the puck well deep in their zone, and shot from the point.  We also pressured them a lot with heavy forchecking and chased them down for the puck to the point where we were consistently winning battles for the lose puck because they would stop challenging us.  As Mikey pointed out, that's what you want to do, win the battles for the puck so often that they start to give up the chase.

Honourable Mention and Player of the Game to us all for a great victory.
